Well, that was easy!

So, I went to the interview at Blockbuster today. It is weird because it feels like my interviews lately have been way off- very conversational. But, she said as soon as the background check came through she wanted to bring me on, and it could take up to three days, so she should call by Wednesday. Then, about four hours later, she called to say that it went through already! And I am hired. They normally only start at $6.35, but that she would start me at $7. ;-) So, yes, it's not the best paying job in the world, but it is something to get me out of the house a few hours and a little extra spending money for Fiance's birthday. And this way, I have a job to keep me busy until "the major airline" calls and says they are finally ready to train. Plus, free rentals (and boy have we been renting lately!).

All is good. I am calmer. I feel like this is a good thing to do until everything I had already planned pans out. I felt lost for a bit because I though I had to change everythng we had planned about my job, but now it is just all delayed a bit, with a very decent filler. so, yay! It all worked out and I am once again stress-free. ;-) I can't wait to get out of the house and work for awhile!

Topsy Turvy

So, everything was in order... I was just waiting for that phone call to tell me when to start my new job... and then two weeks went by and Don said "Call Them!" and I did and guess what! They are not training anyone during august, but will keep me posted as to September training classes. Okay... Did they hire me or what?! So, now I need another job. The vexing question is do I want another permanent, long-term job, or just a lousy part-time/ short-term position to hold me over till Am. West calls back. I have no idea what to do, and those of you who bother to read this should consider this posting a solicitation of career advice to be left in the comments section. ;-)

I called about seven of the closest places for a decent part-time/short-term job and found that Target and Barnes and Noble and Blockbuster were hiring... I applied on-line with Blockbuster and have an interview set up for Friday at noon. I went to Target and filled out the application at the kiosk there, at the end of which they tell you to pick up the red phone next to the computer and tell them you've completed the application... Someone prints your app. and comes to talk to you right away!!! Thank God I showered and dressed semi-decent (khakis and a nice, plain purple shirt). They sit you right down and start interviewing... Then the first person takes you to a second person who completes the interview. Well, the first person was a very sweet girl, and I was just really conversational about it all and told storied about old jobs in answer to all the questions. It aparently went well cuz she took me to the next guy, who is apparently a business intern of some sort and who suggested I look into Executive positions with the company. This means management. I said yay! He gave me an e-mail of the person to send my resume to and I did so promptly. He also completed the interview and said he would list me as potential, which means as soon as a job is available he would love to hire me cuz "You're terrific!" 0;-) So, he loved me, and I am hoping a job will open in the next week or so. He said jobs come availavle all the time, but he just hired two people at 9am that morning (damned messed up sleep schedule!!! I wasn't even awake at 9!).

So, anyway... that's what is going on in my messed up post-college career. Thankfully, my incredible, wonderful, amazing Fiance makes plenty of dough and we are not in any danger financially in any way, so that is good. In fact, we live on what he makes very comfortably. My paycheck is really just savings and something to keep me from going insane sitting around the house all day.

And now Fiance is home and it is dinner time, so I will go. Love you all!

too lazy!

Blogging takes effort, and let's face it... I lack in the motivation required to sit at my computer and type on a regular basis. Play Computer games, yes. Type, no. I have been wasting away my days doing trivial things like watching an entire season of Gilmore Girls (Thanks mommy!!!!) one disc per day at a time while doing mindless chores like organizing the coupon organizer, laundry, vacuuming, and wedding planning.

A few days ago I rearranged the walk-in closet. It doesn't look big, but you'd be surprised how many boxes of absolute crap that filtered into the house (ALL of it Fiance's, by the way) you can fit into HIS side of the closet. My side remains untouched. 0:-) He was very into the whole cleansing and purgin our rooms of useless crap when I was packing up my room, but his life's accumulation of every movie theatre stub- Organized in those damned collectable card protector plastic sheet things, mind you!- are now sitting in a box stuffed in our closet. He claims he'll go through one box a day. The problem with this is that one full box each day gets sorted into about three or four not full boxes with categories such as donation, return to parent's attic, and i really wanna keep this but I know sweetpea won't let me. This causes the number of boxes to multiply, not divide. Oy!

In other news, I have still not heard from "the major airline". I guess that's not so much news as non-news, but whatever. Apparently the FBI takes their sweet time with these FAA mandated backround checks. They've probably tracked down my long lost second grade teacher by now to hear the story of the very first time I was ever grounded for doing something wrong (I don't remember what I did, but I remember being traumatized by the ordeal). But on the up-side, I managed to return the jacket I wore twice with no problems at all cuz it still had the tag on, so yay!

I also finished the Harry Potter book this week, on Monday, actually. It was SOOOO good, but lil sis is reading slow, so I have noone to discuss the good ness with except Fiance, and he simply does not get it. oh well. I know lil sis starts at her new school tomorrow, and I am desperately hoping she will blog about it. Good luck kiddo!

And with that, I shall return to finishing the last episode of GG before Fiance gets home with the Pizza. Good night all!

Yay!!! Good news!

I got a job!!!!! I didn't feel like blogging last night, so I neglected to mention that I had a job interview with "a major airline" this afternoon at 2pm. at 2:50 I had the job, and at 3:15, I was giving a sample for a drug test. What a crazy day. Then I had to do the physical. 20 squats, stay squating for one minute, and then the big, scary part I was WAY worried about... The job REQUIRES that you be able to lift 70lbs. To test this, you must do three things. First, pick up a suitcase by the handle with one hand and walk across the room and back. Ok, not so bad. Then you have to pick it up from the floor and set it on a stool. Ok, again, not so hard. Now, bend down and lift it like a box and carry across the room and back. Oh crap! I couldn't get it picked up at first. The girl says, "Lean it against your chest.. tip it... there you go!" Finally I got it up. The carying wasn't the bad part, it was the fear of being unable to pick it up that was scary. I pulled it off, set it back down, and moved on to eyes and ears. No problems there. I was good to go! YAY!

So, now I report to the recruitment office at 10 am tomorrow with a bunch of other people they've hired for paperwork, my badge photo (I HATe those things! I never look cute!), getting my hands on the study manual (caught a glimpse today, that is A LOT of info!), a ten year background check, finger-print taking for a criminal background check, etc. As soon as the FBI says I am okay, they will assign me a class and I start training. I am SO excited!!!

Fiance is taking my out for ice cream tonight as a treat. I'm thinking I might change it to cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory, just cuz I can. ;-)

The interview was fascinating. Behavior-based, and they specify you have to give examples of what you've done in the past, not what you would do if it were to happen. whatever. I apparently did good. One of the girls asked about the part of my resume where it says I've written amendments to legislation. I explained how it work, she was impressed. I felt too cool for words. Oh yeah. ;-)

So, in a few weeks (or days, depending on how long the FBI takes) I will officially join the ranks of the working class yet again. I am SO Thrilled!

Oh, hey! I suppose you all want to know what the job is, huh? ;-) hehehe silly me, I skipped that detail (and I quote, "ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and a people-person.") Oh well... the job is ticket and gate agent. We switch back and forth. At the ticket counter, we do all the stuff you see people do at that front counter, switch seats, but new tickets, upgrade, rebook flights, check-ins, etc. At the gate, there is an official certification card and everything that the FAA requires (Thus the extensive five week training program). So, we have to keep our certification up to date by working a certain number of gate shifts, although we can request (not guaranteed by any means) to work more in one area than another. The shifts are assigned by seniority, and we "bid" for our shifts every four months to determine the shcedule for the next four months. So, I am hoping I can bid successfully for shift similar to Fiance's crazy schedule. They say newbies always get the most screwed up schedules, and since fiance's schedule is pretty messed up, I'm feeling pretty good.

The pay is ok, certianly enough for us to pay bills and have a growing savings account thanks to the fact that my wonderful provider-fiance makes a killing at his job. (Such a good boy!) So, the PT nature of the gig is actually kinda cool, cuz it makes my schedule more flexible. I can pick up more shifts if I want the extra money, but I don't hafta, so it's all good. And the flight perks!!!! I can fly free on any flight if there's a seat available. totally free. anytime! I am so hitting VEgas baby! And for our honeymoon! Fiance/soon to be husband and I can go to Hawaii for free. Absolutely free flights. and great discounts on other travel, like rental cars and cruises. All too cool, cuz I LOVE to travel. And when you think about it, getting there is always the most expensive part, right?

Well, that's all the babbling I'll do for tonight. It was a very good day, and in an hour and a half or so, I'm getting cheesecake (or ice cream. I just can't decide!)

Love you all!

Oh boy, here we go!

First of all, comments are a must read for those who feel completely confused by my posts, cuz I am about to respond to my mothers comments. ;-)

First, I TOTALLY did not get the L and S thing. Boy do I feel slightly less smart than I previously thought I was.

Second, Which word MA?!! Geesh!

Third, While I admire the resolve to update daily, some of us have lives. (This being a statement completely contradicted by the fact that I, so far, have indeed updated daily. But it's only been two days, so give me a break!) Weekends I get bored easily because Fiance works nights.

And Finally, the informative tidbit of the day... If you don't give a man a WRITTEN list before sending him off to the store, he will not only buy the cinnamon rolls you asked for, but also Klondike bars, two packages of oreos and altoids. Oy! Written lists will always accompany him from now on.

Ok, I think I've figured out how to work this thing!

Well, My first post was decidedly uninformative. That's because I have no idea what I'm doing. I think I am learning where all the links for doing stuff are, so lets get down to the real business of blogging. I truly think this blogging stuff can be a helpful alternative to incredibly expensive phone bills and long, ear hurting, though free, cell phone conversations with those I've left behind.

Today was a very cool day if for no other reason than the fact that Fiance is back in town after a week long trip to visit his grandparents very very far away. The apartment was very lonely, except for the very nice night when the abandoned visited my new place and helped me put up curtains and mirrors and other stuff on the otherwise blank walls. Fiance (Hey, momma, I LOVE this whole names that aren't names thing. ;-) hehe) loves the fact that so much got done while he was gone while simulatenousely reminding me that there is SO much more to do, particularly, all HIS boxes need unpacked. He is, and I feel certain will forever be, my problem child. Today he managed to avoid all those boxes in favor of going to Fry's Electronics (I love that place, it's so wrong!) and buying the wireless router so his laptop can go anywher in our, what 700 sq. ft?! Oy! But, my computer is now accepting the internet connection, which it was not doing before, so I am happy. And, extra bonus, we got the router for a lousy five bucks!!! It was a $59.99 router on sale for $29.99 with a $25.00 rebate I gotta mail in, but boy is that nifty!

And then we went to blockbuster and signed up for a monthly rental pass. We got Meet the Fockers and the Pacifier, which I thought I would hate but I totally loved. Fiance has already returned the Pacifier for whatever our next flick will be. I suspect this return a movie everyday thing will be a trend with him, so the $25 bucks a month is WAY worth it. And he has promised to stop buying movies he has never seen just because they are on sale and someone said it might be good, so really, this is a HUGE moneysaver. Plus, I budgeted for it, so breathe, mamma, breathe! ;-)

I kinda feel bad cuz I was short with Little Lottie on the phone (Oh, sure, you get the cute Phantom name and I get Sweet Pea! huh?!) I was at blockbuster trying to check out and pay and the poor sales lady was trying to tell us how this pass thing worked while Momma and Little Lottie (I swear I thought it was spelled in the book without the "i", but anyway...) they were trying to talk to me about bracelets with oval or round ringlets and sizes and I honetly don't remember half the stuff, so I truly have NO IDEA what they ended up buying 0;-) Oops. I trust them, I'm sure they got me something I'll like. Sorry about that!

Finally, the wonderful Fiance caved in and let us order pizza tonight (he wanted to be sensible and eat the lousy, yucky frozen things I bought for him cuz he likes em but I wouldn't eat if they were the last food on earth) and we got Papa John's pizza delivered. It was yummy, and good food makes me happy.

I can't tell if this is long and boring or not, and so I must now go and sleep, cuz Fiance gets home from work at 8 am and I just KNOW he's gonna drag my butt out of bed and try and eat breakfast with me or watch a movie or something. So, with that, night night to all who may be reading, and especially to the moron family, whom (whom? It's late. Is that even the right usage?) Anyway... I love ya all!!

My first response

Well, I have never been one for taking the time to blog, but I felt a desperate need to write in response to my mother's blogging efforts. Please see her blog at

I Love my Family!!!!
